Outdoor Living Design Goals
This comprehensive outdoor renovation in Zionsville began as a full property re-landscape. The homeowners wanted to refresh the entire exterior of their home while creating a more functional and inviting backyard entertaining space.
Demolition & Site Preparation
Our team removed all existing plant material surrounding the house to provide a clean slate for the new landscape design. We also demolished the outdated wooden deck and removed the original box-store pavers, making way for a more durable, cohesive hardscape solution that better fit the home’s character.
Patio Design & Installation
We installed a new linear patio layout that more than doubled the original deck’s square footage. The finished patio spans approximately 460 square feet, dramatically expanding usable outdoor living space and creating ample room for dining and gathering.
The patio surface was constructed using Unilock Beacon Hill Flagstone slabs in the Fossil color, accented with a 4×8 Holland Premier paver border in Dark Charcoal. The clean lines and subtle contrast deliver a timeless look that complements both the home and surrounding landscape.
Custom Fire Pit & Seat Wall Integration
A key feature of this project is the natural gas fire pit and integrated seat wall, designed to serve as the focal point of the new backyard hangout space. Rather than installing a standalone fire pit, we incorporated it directly into the seat wall to create a more distinctive and cohesive fire feature.
The seat wall and fire pit were constructed using Unilock Brussels Dimensional Wall in the Limestone color, highlighted with a matching Holland Premier paver accent beneath the Unilock Ledgestone coping. A new step was also installed at the sliding door to provide a smooth transition from the home to the patio.
A Complete Backyard Transformation
By combining expanded patio space, integrated seating, and a custom natural gas fire feature, this Zionsville project transformed an outdated deck into a fully functional outdoor living environment. The result is a cohesive, high-quality space designed for dining, entertaining, and relaxing, while elevating the overall curb appeal of the property.
