Backyard Pool Project
Outdoor Living Design Goals
For this Backyard Pool Project, the homeowners had already partnered with a pool contractor and had brought our team in to design and install the surrounding hardscaping and landscaping elements. Their primary goal was to create a spacious pool deck with ample room for entertaining, seating, and circulation around the water.
Site Preparation & Coordination
Working in coordination with the pool installation, we prepared the surrounding area for the new deck, steps, and landscape features. The project also included grading and seeding the yard to ensure a clean, finished look once construction was complete.
Pool Deck Design & Installation
The finished pool deck spans approximately 2,500 square feet, providing generous space for lounge chairs, dining areas, and gathering zones. The homeowners specifically wanted flexibility in how the space could be used, so the layout was designed with open circulation and multiple seating options in mind.
The deck surface was constructed using Unilock Beacon Hill XL slabs in the Fossil color, framed with a 4×8 Holland Premier border in Dark Charcoal. The clean color palette delivers a timeless look that complements the pool and the surrounding home exterior.
Pool Coping & Step Installation
For the pool coping, we installed Unilock Ledgestone Fullnose coping, which features a smooth, rounded bullnose edge. This detail not only enhances safety and comfort along the pool edge but also provides a refined architectural finish.
We also constructed steps leading down from the covered patio to create a seamless, intentional transition between the home and the new pool deck.
Retaining Wall & Structural Elements
Due to grade changes near the northeast corner of the pool deck, an Oklahoma Beam Rock retaining wall was installed. This structural element stabilizes the area while blending naturally into the surrounding landscape.
Walkways & Landscape Enhancements
To improve overall functionality, we added a walkway connecting the pool deck to the back of the driveway, enhancing accessibility and traffic flow. Plantings were installed around the pool deck to soften the hardscape and integrate it into the yard. Privacy berms were also constructed and planted to create a more secluded, resort-style environment.
A Spacious, Resort-Style Backyard
With 2,500 square feet of thoughtfully designed deck space, coordinated materials, and integrated landscaping, this Backyard Pool Project delivers both performance and aesthetics. The result is a cohesive, highly functional outdoor environment built for entertaining, relaxing, and long-term enjoyment.
